Summit County is located west of the Continental Divide and approximately 70-80 miles west of Denver, Colorado, via I-70. The county spans 619 square miles, with 608 square miles of land and 11 square miles of water, including the popular Lake Dillon and Green Mountain Reservoir. It’s a mountainous region, with elevations ranging from 7,957 feet at Green Mountain Reservoir to 14,270 feet at Grays Peak. Breckenridge, the county seat and largest town, is situated at 9,602 feet.
